 The Kohaku Match is a traditional event that has been held at the Kodokan since around 17, and is open to individuals as well as schools and organizations.

In addition, if a player achieves a certain number of wins, it will be a match where he or she will be promoted on the same day, regardless of the length of training or the minimum age for promotion. Please join us and make this a major goal of your judo training.

4. Match details
 Match method -- Kouhaku competition elimination match (high score match for non-dan players)
 Referee regulations -- Kodokan Judo match referee regulations
 Match time - 3 minutes
 Judgment criteria -- Article 40 (judgment of superiority) Valid or Caution or better
 Prohibited items -- "Crab sandwiching" is prohibited

5. About outstanding promotion

 Scores of 6 or more winning points in a row at a time in the Kodokan Spring/Autumn Kouhaku Matches and the Kodokan Osaka International Judo Center Early/Late Kouhaku Matches, and 5 or more "Ippon wins" points among them. For those who have achieved 4th dan or below, they are considered outstanding and will be promoted to dan on the same day, regardless of the length of their training or the minimum age for promotion. However, outstanding promotion is limited to 2 ranks. The outstanding system does not apply to non-dan players who participate in high-scoring matches.

2.0 points for a “win” against a higher ranked player in two or more classes
“Win” against a higher-ranked player in the first class: 1.5 points
“Win” against the same class or rank 1.0 points
“Win” against a player in the lower rank of 0.5 class: XNUMX points
“Win” against a lower rank player in the second class: 0.3 points
The score for a “tie” is based on the following criteria:
“Die” against the top 1.0 class players: XNUMX points
“Die” against a higher rank player in 0.75st class: XNUMX points
0.5 points for a “tie” against a person of the same grade or rank
(Note) ◇Courses will be given to those who have not yet mastered Kata in the Prefectural Promotion.

16. Promotions other than Outstanding are in accordance with Article XNUMX of the "Kodokan Council Regulations" and the "Internal Regulations Concerning Kodokan Dan Promotion Qualifications."
7. The points won in the Kodokan Kouhaku match will be used for promotion.
